Can I Still Get My Lagree Fix While Pregnant?

Can I Still Get My Lagree Fix While Pregnant?

We’re not sure if there’s been something in the water of late, but there’s been a flurry of new pregnancies at K-Kore. So we thought it a very good opportunity to give the low-down on pregnancy + Lagree!

  • K-Kore will not accept new clients who are already pregnant unless they have been practicing Lagree at another studio during pregnancy
  • Existing K-Kore clients should have a clearance from their Doctor
  • Each individual should be monitored closely after the 20-week mark and we highly recommend a 1:1 – even if it’s just one session, to go through modifications, form and any other issues.
  • Pregnant clients should always listen to how their own body feels.
  • Stay hydrated before and after class and do not allow the core temperature to rise above 39.20C as this is considered to be risky. Clients should stay near a fan or air conditioning if possible.
  • It is highly recommended to wear a HR monitor to wear during class. The heart rate should stay under 140 throughout the entire class.

First Trimester (up until 12 weeks)
Clients should be able to continue with their normal Megaformer routine without modifications, however attention should be paid to core temperature and making sure a pole is always handy as balance may be compromised

Second Trimester (13 to 28 weeks)
Please note each pregnancy isn’t the same so the below is a guideline only. In addition, what a client can do at 13 weeks is vastly different to that at 28 weeks so each client should be assessed on a case by case basis. Below are general guidelines:

  • Elevator lunge, Fifth lunge, Super Lunge (due to risk of falling)
  • Any exercise lying flat on back (Mega leg lift)

Exercises to use with caution:

  • All exercises off the back of the machine should be closely monitored and clients encouraged to perform an equivalent exercise off the front
  • Xpress lunge, Elevator lunge
  • Kneeling torso twist
  • Plank to pike
  • Mega Donkey Kick, Spider Kick, Spider Lunge. These exercises may not be comfortable for some clients
